Artist & Silversmith from Forney, Texas in the suburb of Dallas. I have created art my entire life. I won a full tuition art scholarship to attend Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth and graduated from there in 1987 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. I have created and sold art through the years while being a graphic designer and then an Educator. During my years as a teaching artist, I designed an art program especially geared toward hearing impaired students in Dallas ISD. I have also taught art for the past seven years to elementary students, in Garland ISD. While I was teaching art in Garland, I was the district coordinator for the Texas Elementary Art Meet. I also developed the GISD Fine Art Pilot program for Elementary Art. When I was a teacher, I was a huge advocate for young children expressing their feelings through art. I typically draw and paint, however; I taught myself to silversmith in 2020. At this point in my life, I am retired and am devoting my time to my passion! I am currently creating jewelry with turquoise and gemstones. I have also been drawing a series of large insects, one of which is titled The Cicada named Big Ass Bug of Texas. This piece won first place in the 2022 Texas State Fair, this past fall. I recently started experimenting with acrylic pours with glass and resin. I have an artist page on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, in which I share updates for my Etsy shop, Andrea’s Original Art Co.
